Audit log
Every change made in a pool, who made it and when. Owners and admins can read it under Settings › Audit log.
Each pool keeps a log of every change made in it. Open Settings › Audit log to see it, newest first, 50 entries at a time. Choose Load more to go further back.
Who can see it#
Owners and admins. The other built-in roles don’t include it, though an owner can add it to a custom role.
The log belongs to the pool. Each pool you’re in has its own.
What’s recorded#
An entry is written every time someone changes something in the pool. That covers adding, editing and deleting things like accounts, transactions, categories, rules, budgets, bills, goals, loans and people. It also covers:
- Imports, including those from the Sync extension.
- CSV exports of transactions, even though nothing changes.
- Changes made by an AI assistant you’ve connected. These show under your name, since the assistant acts for you. See AI assistants.
- Changes made on a Lifeguard pass, when a Budget Smugglers admin is helping you out. These show under your name, with “via lifeguard” and the admin’s name underneath.
Just looking at things isn’t recorded.
Reading an entry#
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| When | The date and time, in your timezone. |
| Who | The member who made the change. System means the app did it on its own, or the member’s account has since been deleted. |
| What | A short code for the action, such as transaction.update or budget.set. |
| Details | What was sent with the change, such as the new values. Hidden on small screens. |
Details never include passwords, secrets, tokens or codes. Those are blanked out before the entry is saved. Very long text is cut short.
Can it be changed?#
No. Nobody in the pool can edit or delete entries, including owners. The log goes when the pool does: deleting a pool deletes its log with it.
