Your account
Settings
Where to find your profile, security, notifications and connections, and the settings that belong to each pool.
Open Settings in the sidebar, under Setup. It holds two kinds of settings:
- Pool settings (Pool, Members & roles, Categories, People, Audit log) apply to everyone in the pool you’re in. You only see the pages your role allows.
- Your settings (Profile, Security, Connections, Notifications) are just for you, across all your pools.
Profile, Security and Notifications are also in the account menu: click your name at the bottom of the sidebar.
Profile#
About you holds your name and email. Change your name and choose Save. Your email can’t be changed here.
Display preferences change how things look for you, without changing them for anyone else:
- Timezone, Number & date style and Date format. Each starts on Pool default.
- Show locations turns the map and transaction locations on or off.
Security#
Your sign-in methods, password, two-step sign-in, passkeys, app lock and the devices signed in to your account. Signing in and two-step covers each one.
It also has Lifeguard, where you can give a Budget Smugglers admin a pass to step into your account and help out. They can’t see or change your password, sign-in methods or tokens. Changes they make are marked in the audit log.
Notifications#
Choose which emails you get and when:
- Bill reminders, and whether to hear about late bills.
- Weekly digest, and the day it arrives.
- Savings alerts for bonus conditions and term deposits.
- Super alerts for contributions.
- Delivery: the hour emails are sent, in your timezone. Send me a test email checks they arrive.
Push notifications sends alerts to this device as well. Notifications explains what triggers each one.
Connections#
Connect Claude, ChatGPT or another AI assistant, make API tokens, and see the apps you’ve allowed in. Disconnecting an app or revoking a token cuts it off straight away. See Tokens and connected apps.
Pool#
The pool’s name, kind, timezone, currency, financial year and the rest, plus AI categorising, the default report view, price feeds, Require two-step sign-in, and leaving or deleting the pool. See Pools.
Members & roles#
Invite people, change roles, make custom roles and choose who sees which accounts. See Pools, members and roles.
Categories#
The pool’s categories, two levels deep. Reports roll subcategories up into their parent. From here you can:
- Add a category or subcategory with New category.
- Rename, archive or delete one. When you delete a category, pick where its transactions go. Rules and learned merchants move across too.
- Mark a category Essential or Lifestyle, for the charts that split spending that way.
See Categories and rules.
People#
Who’s in the pool, with or without a login. People let you split income and spending between them, and set up super for each person. See People.
Audit log#
Every change made in the pool, newest first. See Audit log.
