Connect ChatGPT

Add Budget Smugglers to ChatGPT as a custom MCP server, sign in, and ask about your money in a chat.

ChatGPT can connect to Budget Smugglers as a custom MCP server. You add it on the ChatGPT website, where it becomes a plugin you can use in chats.

Add the server#

  1. On chatgpt.com, open Plugins.

  2. Choose the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.

  3. Name it Budget Smugglers, and enter the server URL:

    https://my.budgetsmugglers.app/api/mcp

  4. For authentication, choose OAuth.

  5. Read the warning, choose I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.

  6. Install the plugin. When ChatGPT sends you to Budget Smugglers, sign in, choose whether ChatGPT may make changes, and choose Allow.

Use it in a chat#

Ask ChatGPT about your budget. Things to ask has ideas.

ChatGPT asks you to confirm before it uses a tool that changes something. You can remember your answer for that chat. New chats ask again.

Remove access#

Disconnect ChatGPT under Settings › Connections in Budget Smugglers. It loses access straight away. See API tokens and connected apps.
