Terms of service
Last updated 3 October 2026
These terms apply when you use Budget Smugglers, including the website at budgetsmugglers.app, the app, the browser extension and the API. By joining the waiting list or making an account, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
The service
Budget Smugglers helps you track spending, budgets, bills, loans and savings. It's currently invite only, and we're still building it, so features may change, be added or be removed. We may also pause or end the service, and if we end it we'll give account holders reasonable notice to export their data.
Not financial advice
Budget Smugglers is a tool for organising your own information. Forecasts, projections, categorisations and other figures are estimates based on the data you provide and may be wrong. Nothing in the app is financial, tax or legal advice. Check anything important with your bank or a qualified adviser before relying on it.
Your account
- You need to be at least 18, or have a parent or guardian's permission and supervision.
- Give accurate details, keep your sign-in details safe, and tell us if you think your account has been misused.
- You're responsible for what happens under your account, including in pools you create and the people you invite.
Your data
You own the data you put into Budget Smugglers. You give us permission to store and process it only to provide the service to you and the people you share it with. Our privacy policy explains how we handle it.
Acceptable use
Please don't:
- use the service for anything unlawful, or to store information you don't have the right to use;
- try to get into other people's accounts or data, or get around security or access limits;
- overload, disrupt or reverse-engineer the service, or scrape it beyond normal use of the API;
- resell access to the service without our permission.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, or that put the service or other people at risk.
Connected services
You can connect things like Google sign-in, the browser extension and AI assistants. Each runs under its own provider's terms, and you're responsible for what you allow them to do. The browser extension works with your bank's website while you're logged in; check that this is allowed by your bank's terms.
Price
The service is currently free. If we introduce paid plans, we'll tell you before anything is charged, and you won't be charged unless you agree.
Liability
We work hard to keep Budget Smugglers reliable and accurate, but it's provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we exclude all warranties and aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by relying on figures in the app. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can't be excluded. Where our liability can be limited, it's limited to supplying the service again.
Ending your account
You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing[email protected].
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. We'll update the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll email account holders before they take effect. Continuing to use the service means you accept the new terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
